I love baking. I always have, even when I had an oven that needed to have a chair shoved under the door handle to keep it sealed. I am a social worker but for now I am a stay-at-home mother of two little boys, Will and Ollie. My interest in cake decorating bloomed when I started making birthday cakes for these little men. I wonder if they know how lucky they are that I love baking and decorating so much! I am always trying new things and the boys and my wonderfully supportive husband Elloy are my chief critics. I am really enjoying testing the waters of making some money from baking with my lovely friend Katy. She and I have a similar passion for baked goods and cake decorating and we are really enjoying doing this thing together.
I have been baking for as long as I can remember. It just seems to "make sense" to me. I also made a lot of figurines out of a fabulous material, called FIMO, when I was a child. So these 2 things are second nature to me, and now I have the privilege to be able to combine them and (hopefully) make some money out of it.
When I finished school I completed a cheffing apprenticeship, but I didn't enjoy that as much as baking. I travelled for a few years and then studied nursing at university, and then I left nursing to go on maternity leave at the start of this year.
I have a chocaholic/cakeaholic partner, Szymon (affectionately known as Mushroom), who is the official taste tester of all new ideas. His 6 year old son, Lochie, is a chip off the old block and also likes to test my wears. My son, Darius is too young to eat cake yet, but I'm sure he'll be helping out with samples when he is old enough! I'm so excited to enter the world of professional cake decorating, broadening my skills and trying lots of new recipes!
